Cassine Gardens Nature Trail is a delightful find, tucked into the east side of this upscale development of condominiums and single-family homes in Seagrove. A cypress wetlands, presently dry, is a majestic forest of tall trees that looks like something out of a Jurassic Park movie. Simple wooden bridges take hikers over a stream or two, and bountiful pine needles make the trail both bucolic as well as easy to follow. After a few minutes, we heard splashing ahead, and the dogs had happily vaulted into a large body of cool water--which was, to our amazement--Eastern Lake! Cassine Gardens also offers a picnic area, two pools, tennis courts, and lovely ponds and fountains plus a playground for the kiddoes. Stop in for a visit--across from One Seagrove Place--and bring your hiking shoes!
