Thanksgiving On 30A

Living in Florida year round I see the crowds come and go.  I think the best time of the year to be in Destin, 30A, or Panama City is in the fall. During fall the weather is similar to spring but the water is still warm. I love the long summer days also, but I like a little cooler temperature than peak summer.

Image titleAbout the time football season starts the crowd down here get lighter. As a real estate agent I like that because showing homes gets easier. Many of the homes down here are on the rental market and during busy times have to be viewed between renters on the turn day, usually Saturday. There are some people that come for fall break but the busiest time after summer is definitely Thanksgiving. The weather is great and the large beach homes that fit multiple families get put to use. I bet there are more owners in town for Thanksgiving than any other time of the year. The days are shorter and cooler, and the water is colder so the beach accesses are not a good way to judge how many people are in town.  If you drive on 30A though Seaside or down Western Lake Drive in Watercolor you will see all the people out enjoying the day walking around or riding bikes. It is still warm enough for a short sleeve shirt and shorts in November and even December. Today it got up to 78 degrees and tomorrow is the first day of December. Last year I remember jogging in shorts and a t-shirt two days before Christmas. So if you live somewhere that is really cold Thanksgiving you alway could line up a family trip to the beach for that holiday and enjoy a little warmer time.
